FAQs

Should teakwood be kiln-dried before furniture production?
Yes, it is highly recommended to kiln-dry teakwood before making furniture.   While teak is naturally durable and weather-resistant, kiln-drying significantly improves its stability and durability. This process removes excess moisture from the wood, preventing issues like warping, cracking, and shrinking.   Key benefits of kiln-drying teakwood: Stability: Reduces the risk of dimensional changes due to fluctuations in humidity.   Durability: Increases the wood's resistance to decay, rot, and insect infestation.   Workability: Makes the wood easier to work with, resulting in smoother finishes and better jointing. Aesthetics: Enhances the natural beauty of the wood by bringing out its grain and color. By investing in kiln-dried teak, you can ensure that your furniture will last for many years, both indoors and outdoors.
What does Premium teak from a sustainable plantation program means?
Premium teak from a sustainable plantation program means that the teak wood used to make the product comes from a responsibly managed plantation. This implies:   Sustainable Forestry: The trees are harvested in a way that ensures the long-term health of the forest ecosystem. This involves practices like selective harvesting, replanting, and avoiding clear-cutting.   Legal and Ethical Sourcing: The wood is sourced legally and ethically, ensuring that no illegal logging or exploitation of workers is involved.   High Quality: "Premium" indicates that the wood is of superior quality, free from defects and with desirable characteristics like straight grain and rich color. Environmental Responsibility: The plantation is managed with environmental considerations in mind, minimizing impact on biodiversity and water resources.   By choosing products made from sustainably sourced teak, you contribute to responsible forestry practices and help protect natural resources.
How long does it take for teak trees to mature before harvesting?
Typically, teak trees are harvested after 25-40 years. However, this can vary depending on factors like specific plantation management practices, soil quality, and climate conditions.
